Yes, oil tanks can go next to a fence as long as the fence is at least 0.76 metres away from the tank as its considered a non-fire-rated boundary. If the fence is closer than this, we would recommend installing a fire-resistant wall between the tank and the fence, that is at least 300mm taller and wider than the tank.
